Voting Results from the 14th to the 21st
The tentative wage agreement for last year and this year, reached after 10 months of negotiations between Samsung Electronics management and labor union, was rejected in a general vote by union members.
The National Samsung Electronics Labor Union (Jeonsamno) announced that in the vote on the '2023-2024 Wage Agreement Tentative Agreement' held from the 14th to the 21st, out of 30,765 eligible voters, 22,999 (74.8%, including additional votes from absentees) participated, and among them, 58.63% (13,485 people) opposed it. 9,514 people (41.37%) voted in favor.
Jeonsamno stated, "On the afternoon of the 21st, we plan to discuss the post-rejection plan with delegates," and added, "We will provide detailed announcements later based on the discussions with the delegates."
With this rejection, the wage negotiations are likely to be postponed until next year.
The tentative agreement included ▲a 5.1% wage increase ▲guaranteed paid union activity hours for members (twice a year, 4 hours each) ▲2 million points of 'Samsung Family Net'?used for purchasing company products?granted to all employees ▲improvements to long-term service leave, among other provisions. The average wage increase rate of 5.1% (3.0% base increase and 2.1% performance increase) and the expansion of long-term service leave applied the previously announced terms from March of this year.
