The police have secured CCTV footage and fingerprints and are pursuing them on charges of special theft. A said, "I learned of the damage after another customer contacted me saying, 'I put cash in, but the change didn't come out,'" adding, "It is outrageous and upsetting that a man and woman, not young, deliberately pried open the kiosk and stole cash." He expressed frustration, saying, "Including repair costs, I suffered a loss of 1.5 million won."

Earlier, on the 18th, the YouTube channel 'Republic of Korea National Police Agency' also covered a gang that extorted cash by smashing the checkout counter with a hammer at an unmanned store. The video posted on the channel shows a man forcibly breaking the checkout counter and stealing cash at an unmanned convenience store around 3 a.m. Upon entering the convenience store, the man turned the security camera installed in front of the checkout counter and tidied up the area around the counter.

He then attempted to forcibly open the checkout counter. Using tools prepared in advance, he tried several times, but the counter did not open easily. The man left the store briefly and returned with a hammer. Holding the hammer, he struck the checkout counter and broke the lock within 7 minutes. He then took the cash inside the counter and fled the crime scene.

It was confirmed that they stole a total of 1.9 million won over 11 incidents. However, during the crimes, they damaged 12 unmanned cash registers, causing property damage worth about 10 million won. The police identified the suspects' appearances through analysis of nearby security cameras and arrested all four suspects within three days through additional evidence collection.
