108 Dongguk University Professors' Political Statement: "President Yoon Seok-yeol Must Resign Immediately"

Criticism of the National Address Delivered on the 7th

108 professors from Dongguk University issued a political statement calling for President Yoon Suk-yeol's resignation.

On the morning of the 21st, 108 professors from Dongguk University held a press conference in front of Paljeongdo at Dongguk University Seoul Campus in Jung-gu, Seoul, and announced a political statement titled "The only thing to change is your cellphone? President Yoon Suk-yeol must step down immediately."

They stated, "Currently, the Republic of Korea is facing crises represented by economic recession, a sharp decline in birth rates, climate crisis, and economic polarization. Efforts for unity through the president's ability, will, and communication are required, but none of these have been confirmed in President Yoon. Rather, he is engrossed in old ideological conflicts, even escalating the threat of war on the Korean Peninsula."

They continued, "Among the actions taken by the government over the past two and a half years, such as solutions for forced labor during Japanese colonial rule, the medical crisis, and tax reduction policies, what has gained broad social consensus? Including various suspicions surrounding First Lady Kim Keon-hee, not a single issue has been resolved; instead, they have only piled up layer upon layer."

They also criticized President Yoon's national address on the 7th. The professors said, "The president blamed all the current allegations solely on certain media outlets and insisted that the special investigation law on Kim Keon-hee is 'a violation of human rights' and 'an unconstitutional political agitation.' Who exactly did President Yoon Suk-yeol apologize to, and for what?"

In conclusion, they said, "We judge that we can no longer entrust this president with running the country," and criticized, "We hope President Yoon will resign immediately. Now, he only has the choice to be impeached or to step down."
