The Suicide Prevention and Life Respect Committee was established in 2017 according to the ‘Ordinance on the Promotion of Suicide Prevention and Life Respect Culture in Uijeongbu City.’ Chaired by Mayor Kim Dong-geun, it consists of 16 members including heads and experts from suicide prevention-related fields such as the Office of Education, police station, and fire station.
At the meeting, they discussed ways to effectively promote suicide prevention projects tailored to the local characteristics based on this year’s suicide statistics in Uijeongbu City. All committee members agreed to actively work towards establishing a cooperative system among related organizations for suicide prevention and revitalizing suicide prevention education in affiliated institutions following the mandatory suicide prevention education.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun stated, “We will actively reflect the opinions expressed by the committee members at today’s meeting to reduce the suicide rate in Uijeongbu City and create a culture of life respect together with the citizens.”
