Ramsar Wetland Cities, Changnyeong-Inje ... Regional Management Committee Exchange Meeting Held

To Promote Exchange Between Sponge Cities

Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 21st that the Upo Wetland Ramsar Site Local Management Committee held an exchange meeting with the Yongneup Ramsar Site Local Management Committee from Inje-gun, Gangwon Province over two days from the 19th to the 20th at the Upo Wetland Ecological Experience Center and surrounding areas in Changnyeong-gun.


This exchange meeting was organized for nine members of the Inje Yongneup Ramsar Site Local Management Committee to visit Changnyeong-gun, tour ecological tourism sites such as the Upo Wetland Ecological Center, and discuss mutual cooperation plans with the Changnyeong Upo Wetland Ramsar Site Local Management Committee.

At the exchange meeting held at the Upo Wetland Ecological Experience Center, both committees introduced the Ramsar site projects they are promoting, and Park Gwang-yeol, an education researcher at the Upo Ecological Education Center and a member of the Upo Wetland Ramsar Site Local Management Committee, presented a wetland education program. Additionally, officials from both regions attended and pledged mutual support and cooperation to activate exchanges between Ramsar sites.


Through this exchange meeting, the Upo Wetland and Yongneup Ramsar Site Local Management Committees signed a business agreement for the sustainable development of the Ramsar sites. The main contents of the agreement include ▲ exchange programs for local residents and students ▲ cooperation in wetland education and program development ▲ exchange of human and material resources and joint promotional cooperation to improve the image.


Kim Cheon-il, the chairman of the Local Management Committee, said, “I am pleased that this exchange and business agreement can further strengthen cooperation for wetland protection,” and added, “I hope that active exchanges between the two regions will continue to lead sustainable development.”
