Seoul Metropolitan Council member Seo Jun-oh (Democratic Party of Korea·Nowon 4) expressed his welcome for the development plan of Wolgye 2 Housing Site Development District, which was finalized through the amendment approval at the Seoul City Urban and Architectural Joint Committee held on the 13th.

According to the finalized development plan, Wolgye 2 District will be transformed into a large-scale residential complex with 6,700 households.

Wolgye 2 District is a large-scale apartment complex established in the 1980s. As the reconstruction period for Wolgye Shiyeong Apartments (Miseong·Mirung·Samho) approaches, a district unit plan has been established for systematic development of Nowon-gu by proceeding with reconstruction procedures in conjunction with the development project of Gwangwoon University Station area.

Councilor Seo has been working as a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council’s Urban Planning and Balance Committee and Housing and Space Committee, striving from the final approval of the detailed safety inspection of Wolgye Shiyeong Apartments to the establishment of the district unit plan for Wolgye 2 District. He has also recently participated as a member of the ‘Seoul City Urban and Architectural Joint Committee.’

The finalized plan is scheduled to be finally decided and announced as a district unit plan by the end of the year, following a re-notification in early December. According to the plan, a new circular road system will be established to link with the Gwangwoon University Station area development project, commercial functions will be strengthened by upgrading the zoning to quasi-residential areas, an urban-type residential complex centered on streets will be created for an open urban spatial structure, and a harmonious waterfront landscape with Jungnangcheon Stream will be formed, creating a residential complex that satisfies all 6,700 residents.

On the 18th, Councilor Seo held a meeting at the Nowon-gu Office with Nowon-gu Mayor Oh Seung-rok, Nowon-gu Council member Park Yi-gang, and related members of the Wolgye Shiyeong Reconstruction Promotion Committee, including Chairman Kim Tae-yeon, expressing his commitment to do his best for the successful reconstruction of Wolgye Shiyeong Apartments.

The reconstruction project of Wolgye Shiyeong Apartments, a representative large-scale housing development complex in Nowon-gu, can be considered both the starting point and the goal of reconstruction projects in Nowon-gu. This is why Councilor Seo, Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon-gu, and National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik (Nowon-gu Gap) have pledged their full support for the successful reconstruction of Wolgye Shiyeong Apartments.

Councilor Seo stated, “With the successful reconstruction of Wolgye Shiyeong Apartments, the change in residents’ living environment will become the future image of Nowon-gu as a future city,” and added, “I will actively support the reflection of residents’ opinions during the reconstruction process through vigorous legislative activities in the Seoul Metropolitan Council’s Housing and Space Committee.”

In addition to establishing the district unit plan for Wolgye 2 District, Councilor Seo is actively involved in establishing district unit plans for Sangye, Junggye, and Hagye housing site districts in Nowon-gu, drawing the blueprint for the future city of Nowon-gu. He is also leading reconstruction and redevelopment in Nowon-gu by achieving results such as realizing the correction coefficient for business feasibility, preparing improvement measures for the Sangye New Town project feasibility, and passing the review of the Sangye 5-dong private redevelopment project.
