The Sacheon City Hypertension and Diabetes Registration Management Project has been confirmed to play a significant role as a guardian protecting the health of Sacheon citizens by achieving various results over the past 10 years.
Through the performance report meeting, the Sacheon City Health Center announced that the awareness rate of blood pressure levels among Sacheon citizens improved by 26.3%, from 37.8% in 2013 to 64.1% in 2023, and the awareness rate of blood sugar levels also increased about threefold, from 9.1% in 2013 to 27.8% in 2023.
This is the result of promoting the Sacheon City Hypertension and Diabetes Registration Management Project since August 2012, which provides registration and management of hypertension and diabetes patients, prevention and management of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, disease education, and counseling for local residents.
Additionally, support for medical and pharmaceutical expenses for registered patients aged 65 and older has also influenced health indicators by improving the continuous treatment rate of patients.
The director of Sacheon City Health Center said, “The number of young hypertension and diabetes patients is increasing due to changes in dietary habits,” and added, “We will expand programs not only for patients but also for those at risk of these diseases.”
He continued, “We will actively promote the project to prevent diseases and improve the health level of citizens. We will take the lead so that hypertension and diabetes patients can enjoy a healthy life.”
