Korea Management Certification Institute 'Global Standard Management Award'
First Safety Management Award Winner in the Telecommunications Industry
KT announced on the 21st that it has won the Safety Management Grand Prize for the first time in the telecommunications industry at the '23rd Global Standard Management Awards (GSMA)' hosted by the Korea Management Certification Institute.
KT was recognized for its contributions to advancing disaster safety management systems and spreading a safety culture through safety management activities, including achieving zero serious accidents (ZERO) for two consecutive years across its group companies and partners, and developing an employee-participatory risk assessment methodology.
To strengthen safety management at the group level, KT expanded the application of its self-developed safety management platform, 'All-in-Safety,' to group companies and partners. Based on this, KT has promoted industrial accident prevention activities such as pre-eliminating risk factors before work and automatically analyzing the safety of major facilities, achieving triple zero serious accidents (KT, group companies, partners) since last year.
Additionally, KT established a safety management system based on ISO 45001, the international standard for safety and health management systems, and SH evaluation certification, which assesses corporate safety system management. KT received positive evaluations by conducting various win-win cooperation activities such as practical safety education and consulting for partner companies.
KT introduced an employee-participatory risk assessment methodology to regularly improve hazardous and risky factors and is strengthening safety management by utilizing objective techniques such as structural safety evaluations.
KT installed fire safety facilities in all telecommunication ducts, installed safety railings on approximately 8,500 steel towers, and focused on improving vulnerable facilities by reinforcing about 100,000 aged telecommunication poles and manholes. In September, KT jointly established base station safety facilities with other telecommunications operators, raising the safety level of the telecommunications industry to a new level.
Im Hyun-gyu, Vice President and Head of Safety and Health at KT, said, "Taking this award as an opportunity, we will do our best to create a safe and healthy workplace and achieve zero serious accidents together with our group companies and partners."
