Expanding international cooperation with India, population 1.4 billion
Promoting global corporate investment attraction in Goyang Free Economic Zone and Ilsan Technovalley
Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) is participating as a co-host institution in the '2024 Korea Industrial Exhibition (KoINDEX)', held for the first time in India, and is working to expand economic cooperation between Korea and India and attract global companies.
According to Goyang Special City on the 21st, the 2024 Korea Industrial Exhibition (KoINDEX) is a specialized exhibition of promising Korean industries held from the 21st to the 23rd at the Yashobumi Exhibition Center in New Delhi, India, aimed at supporting economic cooperation between Korea and India and the entry of small and medium enterprises into the Indian market.
This exhibition is the first 'Korea Industrial Exhibition' held in India, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Gyeonggi Province, and Goyang Special City, and co-organized by KINTEX, Messe Esang, KOTRA, the Korea Federation of SMEs, and the Gyeonggi Provincial Economic Science Promotion Agency.
The exhibition plans to operate 503 booths from a total of 233 companies in sectors including construction, heating and cooling, safety, smart cities, environment, energy, beauty, food, and mobility, and is expected to serve as an opportunity to expand economic and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
The Yashobumi Exhibition Center, where the event is held, is the largest exhibition and convention center in India (300,000㎡), opened in 2023. KINTEX and Messe Esang jointly secured the 20-year operating rights through a public bid in 2018 and are currently managing it, regarded as a successful case of overseas expansion of the K-MICE industry.
Meanwhile, Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City will visit India during the exhibition period to strengthen economic cooperation with India through the 'Korea-India Business Partnership Forum' and the 'Indian Industrial Federation Meeting.' He will also introduce the designation progress of the Goyang Free Economic Zone and Ilsan Technovalley to prominent local Indian companies and investors participating in the exhibition, actively establishing business cooperation relationships for global investment attraction.
In addition, he plans to encourage Goyang city companies participating in the exhibition and conduct in-depth discussions on difficulties and support measures for overseas expansion of small and medium enterprises. Especially, at the side event Kimchi Festival, they plan to promote Yeolmu Kimchi made with Ilsan young radish, a representative agricultural product of Goyang city.
A Goyang Special City official said, "This event is a meaningful opportunity to introduce Korea's promising technologies and industries at Yashobumi Exhibition Center, the largest international exhibition hall in India operated by KINTEX, an institution invested by Goyang city," adding, "It will be an important foothold to expand international exchanges with India, which has an infinite potential population of 1.4 billion, and to attract global investment to the Goyang Free Economic Zone and Ilsan Technovalley."
