Dobong-gu Mayor Oh Eon-seok Joins Child Abuse Prevention Campaign

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) held a child abuse prevention campaign at Exit 1 of Chang-dong Station Square on November 19, in observance of Child Abuse Prevention Day (November 19).

The campaign involved the Dobong Police Station, the Northern Child Protection Agency, and children from five local daycare centers.

The district has been conducting an annual child abuse prevention campaign to raise awareness among residents about the seriousness of child abuse and the importance of prevention.

This year, the campaign was held under the theme "Attention is the Best Prevention." During the event, the district provided information on types and characteristics of child abuse as well as reporting procedures.

Additionally, activities such as trying on police uniforms and positive parenting play activities were offered to enhance awareness of children's rights and safety.

The "Child Abuse Prevention Relay Campaign" was also conducted on the same day. The relay campaign is organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Child Rights Protection Agency.

Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu, who was nominated by Jung Moon-heon, Mayor of Jongno-gu, expressed the district’s strong commitment to preventing child abuse, stating, “We will strive to respect children’s rights and support their voluntary growth. Furthermore, we will make greater efforts to cooperate with related organizations to prevent child abuse and protect children who have suffered abuse.” He then nominated Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, and Jung Han-gyu, Chief of Dobong Police Station, as the next participants.

Beyond the campaign, the district is making significant efforts to eradicate child abuse locally. Since this year, it has been conducting education on identifying at-risk children by visiting community service centers directly to engage residents. To improve public awareness, the district has also been conducting promotional activities using a child abuse awareness village bus since September.
