Pukyong National University Appoints Bae Sang-hoon as 8th President

Professor Bae Sang-hoon (裵尙勳), aged 60, majoring in Satellite Information Convergence Engineering, has been appointed as the 8th president of Pukyong National University.

Pukyong National University announced on the 20th that Professor Bae Sang-hoon was appointed as the 8th president of Pukyong National University on November 15 through the Ministry of Education's national university president appointment procedure. His term is four years, until November 14, 2028.

President Bae graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering at Pusan National University and earned his master's and doctoral degrees in Transportation Engineering from Virginia Tech. Since 2002, he has served as a professor in the Satellite Information Convergence Engineering major at Pukyong National University, served as dean of the College of Environment and Ocean, and worked as a research fellow at the Korea Transport Institute.

He currently serves as chairman of the Busan City Public Transportation Citizens' Fund and co-representative of the Busan City Public Transportation Forum.

Professor Bae stated, “I will focus on advancing key university issues such as the Glocal University Project, the RISE Project, and the College of Liberal Studies, and lead Pukyong National University toward innovation as a sustainable future university.” He added, “Based on communication and harmony, I will realize the vision of becoming a strong university of global standards together with the local community.”

The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to be held on December 18 at 2 p.m. in the large conference room on the 2nd floor of the university headquarters at Pukyong National University.
