As the frequency of missile and drone attacks by Russia on Ukraine has increased recently, worsening the local situation, the Korean Embassy in Ukraine issued a safety notice for Korean residents.
On the 20th, the embassy stated, "Cases of destruction of civilian infrastructure and civilian casualties within Ukraine are increasing," and added, "We ask our nationals currently staying in Ukraine due to unavoidable reasons to pay extra attention to their personal safety."
It further emphasized, "Especially when an air raid alert is issued, please do not ignore it and immediately evacuate to the nearest shelter, and comply with safety measures."
Additionally, it urged, "We ask our nationals staying in Ukraine to maintain constant contact with our embassy and to immediately inform the embassy of any unusual developments." It is known that about 100 Koreans are currently residing in Ukraine.
On the same day, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine also announced that there is specific information about a possible large-scale air raid, closed the embassy, and instructed staff to evacuate.
Currently, there are no reports of embassy closures or staff evacuations from the Korean Embassy. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters is expected to issue guidelines for the Ukraine embassy to request support if needed.
