Asan City in South Chungcheong Province expressed its gratitude to Cheonan City for granting approval to use Cheonan Sports Complex for the Asan FC K League 1 promotion-relegation playoff.
According to the city on the 20th, Asan FC advanced to the promotion-relegation playoff for the first time since its foundation, after finishing as runners-up in K League 2. The playoff is scheduled to be held on the 28th or next month, depending on the results of the K League 1 final match on the 24th.
However, due to turf replacement work at their home stadium, Lee Sunshin Sports Complex, they needed to secure another venue for the home leg of the playoff.
In response, Cheonan Mayor Park Sangdon approved the use of Cheonan Sports Complex, the home stadium of Cheonan City FC, for Asan FC's home playoff match and sought the understanding of citizens amid some opposition.
Jo Ilgyo, acting mayor of Asan, said, "The warm consideration and spirit of cooperation shown by Mayor Park Sangdon and the citizens of Cheonan have become an opportunity to further strengthen the friendly relationship between Asan and Cheonan," adding, "This cooperation will serve as a stepping stone for mutual growth and development of both cities."
He continued, "We will do our best so that Asan FC can achieve good results in the playoff and bring pride to both regions," and added, "We hope that both cities will continue to cooperate and grow together in the future."
