Public work is a project that temporarily provides jobs in the public sector to unemployed individuals from low-income households. It aims to support more active job-seeking activities by providing stable income assistance to vulnerable employment groups and to enhance administrative efficiency for the benefit of citizens.

The 2025 public work project is planned to be implemented in three phases of four months each, and the first phase, for which recruitment is currently underway, will run from January to April.

Selected workers will be assigned to various fields, including environmental cleanup in areas with intensive illegal dumping management, digitization of building registers, safety management for users of the Goyang City drone flight center, guidance for entry to pet playgrounds, and assistance in operating the branded tourism souvenir center.

Eligibility for applying to the public work project requires applicants to be registered residents of Goyang City as of the application date, unemployed individuals aged 18 or older with the ability to work as of the project start date, with household income at or below 60% of the median income standard, and total household assets not exceeding 480 million KRW.

Working conditions include 25 hours per week for those under 65 years old and 15 hours per week for those 65 and older, mandatory enrollment in the four major social insurances, and wages based on the 2025 government minimum wage standard, with additional allowances for incidental expenses, weekly holidays, and monthly leave paid separately.

Citizens wishing to participate in the public work project must bring their ID and the seal of a household member registered in the resident registration and visit the local administrative welfare center of their residence in person during business hours from November 20 to 26 to apply. Detailed information can be found in the recruitment announcement section on the city hall website.

A city official stated, “We hope that citizens facing difficulties in employment can take a step forward to find better jobs through participation in public work opportunities.”
