Taean County in Chungnam announced that Oh Kyunghwan, the head of the Taean Symbidium Crop Group, received an award in the horticulture and special crops category at the 32nd Chungcheongnam-do Rural Development Awards Ceremony held in the provincial government’s main conference room on the 17th.


The Chungnam Rural Development Award is the highest honor in the province’s agriculture and fisheries sector, presented annually to recognize dedicated workers who contribute to the development of agriculture, fisheries, and rural communities through their hard work in the field.


This award is also regarded as the top honor in the province’s agricultural and fisheries sector, recognizing individuals and organizations that lead innovation in rural areas and set the direction for the future of agriculture and fisheries in Chungnam.


Oh Kyunghwan was recognized for his contributions to the sustainable development of rural areas by leading the development and distribution of excellent orchid varieties and cultivation technologies, thereby enhancing the diversity and self-reliance of rural communities.


Gase Ro, the mayor of Taean County, said, “I extend my sincere gratitude and congratulations to Oh Kyunghwan for his dedication to the advancement of local agriculture,” adding, “As Taean County has produced award recipients for four consecutive years, we will continue to do our best to create a happy rural community and improve the quality of life for our residents.”


Meanwhile, Taean County has achieved the remarkable feat of winning the ‘Chungcheongnam-do Rural Development Award’ for four consecutive years, with Kim Youngsun (livestock) in 2021, Hong Minjung (horticulture and special crops) and Kim Junggeun (eco-friendly agriculture) in 2022, Kim Namhan (horticulture and special crops), Kim Youngcheol (fisheries), and Seosan Suhyup (support organization) in 2023, followed by this year’s award for Oh Kyunghwan.
