Mayor Bang Se-hwan: "We Will Create a Business-Friendly Environment by Resolving Corporate Difficulties"
Gwangju City received the Grand Prize in the Gyeonggi-do ‘Enterprise SOS Operation’ evaluation.
According to the city on the 20th, Gyeonggi-do evaluates the performance of Enterprise SOS operations over the course of a year for 31 cities and counties, selecting and awarding outstanding cities and counties.
Gyeonggi-do comprehensively assessed △interest from institution heads △budget support △handling of corporate difficulties △improvement of corporate regulations △publicity achievements △improvement △implementation of business-friendly policies based on 7 categories and 14 detailed indicators.
For a fair evaluation, the assessment was divided into four groups?A, B, C, and D?based on the number of factory registrations, and Gwangju City was honored with the ‘Grand Prize’ in the B group.
Accordingly, the city has achieved the remarkable feat of winning a total of 15 awards in this evaluation from 2008 to 2023.
Since enacting the ‘Ordinance on the Operation of Gwangju City Enterprise SOS’ in 2008, the city has diversified channels for receiving difficulties by conducting institution head visits to enterprises, holding meetings, and operating on-site task forces every year to discover various ‘field-centered’ corporate difficulties and provide customized services for enterprises.
In addition, to improve corporate infrastructure, the city spends over 2.1 billion won annually to enhance poor basic facilities and labor/work environments of small and medium-sized enterprises.
In particular, in 2023, to promptly resolve the corporate difficulties of SMEs experiencing challenging times both domestically and internationally, the city formed and operated the Enterprise SOS T/F team, swiftly resolving corporate difficulties that increased by 109% compared to the previous year.
Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “We will continue to listen to various corporate difficulties and make greater efforts to create a business-friendly environment.”
