Dongducheon City to Select Hometown and Housing Support Scholarship Recipients for Second Half of 2024

Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyung-deok) announced on the 20th that it held the 5th Hometown Scholarship Fund Management Committee meeting at the city hall situation room on the 19th and selected a total of 228 Hometown and Housing Support scholarship recipients for the second half of 2024.

For the second half of the year, 152 students who met the academic and residency requirements were selected from the 190 scholarship recipients chosen in the first half. Additionally, 76 more students were selected from 162 preliminary candidates from the first half, resulting in a total of 228 university student scholarship recipients.


The students selected as scholarship recipients for the second half will receive ▲ Hometown Scholarship (General University) up to 1.75 million KRW ▲ Hometown Scholarship (Junior College) up to 1 million KRW ▲ Hometown Scholarship (Local University) up to 1.75 million KRW ▲ Housing Support Scholarship up to 1 million KRW.


Thus, the total number of outstanding Dongducheon City students selected as Hometown and Housing Support scholarship recipients in 2024 is 366, including 100 high school students and 266 university students from both the first and second halves of the year.


A total of 560 million KRW in scholarships will be awarded to these students, serving as a foundation for them to grow into talents who will lead the future of the local community.


Mayor Park Hyung-deok of Dongducheon City stated, “It is our city’s responsibility to create conditions where students can develop their abilities and focus on their studies,” and added, “The city will focus on educational support projects and do its best to manage the Hometown Scholarship Fund so that more students can benefit from scholarships.”


Meanwhile, Dongducheon City has been providing scholarships annually to outstanding local students through the Hometown Scholarship Fund established in 1994, and plans to select scholarship recipients for the following year through the scholarship application announcement in April 2025.
