Over the past decade, the infrastructure construction of Incheon Songdo International City Blocks 6 and 8 (5.8 million㎡), carried out in three phases, has been completed.

On the 19th, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority held an opening ceremony for the landmark road in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, attended by Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok, City Council Chairman Jeong Hae-gwon, and Director Yoon Won-seok, the authority announced on the 21st. The landmark road, connecting the Aam Logistics Complex (Block 9) and the International Business District (Block 3), is the final third-phase road of the Songdo Blocks 6 and 8 infrastructure project, which began construction in July 2020 and was completed after 4 years and 3 months.

Previously, the first-phase road (6.8 km in length) was completed in 2017, and the second-phase road (5.7 km in length) in 2021. In this third-phase project, 15 roads including Gwang 2-14 Line (6.7 km in length), one bridge (one vehicular bridge), water supply, stormwater, sewage, landscaping, and various other infrastructure works were completed. This is a key facility to meet the transportation demand of approximately 30,000 public housing residents in the development area of about 5.8㎢ and to attract investment for major development projects in Landmark City.

With the opening of the landmark road, the living conditions of nearby residents are expected to improve significantly. It will effectively disperse the detoured traffic caused by the Waterfront Phase 1-2 construction, which began in February this year, and enhance residents' quality of life by serving as a connection network with surrounding Blocks 1, 3, and 9, while also increasing competitiveness in attracting investment.

The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority particularly expects that the opening of this road network will lay the foundation for the sustainable future development of Songdo Blocks 6 and 8 Landmark City and play a key role in establishing Songdo International City as a global center for business and residence.

Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok of Incheon said, "The road network in Songdo Blocks 6 and 8 is more than just transportation infrastructure; it is a core asset that enhances the competitiveness of Songdo International City." He added, "Through this opening, Songdo will further solidify its position as a center for living, business, and investment, and a new turning point will be created for various development projects in Landmark City."
