Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, hosted the ‘2024 World Heritage Festival - Gaya Tumuli,’ which won the bronze award in the Cultural Heritage Utilization Program category at the 18th Pinnacle Awards Korea.
The ‘2024 World Heritage Festival - Gaya Tumuli’ was held from September 23 to October 6 to commemorate the first anniversary of the Gaya Tumuli’s inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The World Heritage Festival consisted of 10 value enjoyment programs and 5 value dissemination programs, serving as a festival venue where visitors could experience the world heritage value of the Jisan-dong Tumuli in Goryeong, representing Daegaya.
The Pinnacle Awards Korea is a global competition held at Darakwon in Geumsan-gun, Chungnam Province, which discovers and awards competitive festivals worldwide and promotes global publicity and exchange of festivals.
This year, 50 local governments and foundations participated, with 70 festivals submitted for competition, and awards were given across a total of 19 categories including program and media sections.
County Governor Namcheol Lee said, “Taking this award at the World Heritage Festival as an opportunity, we will widely promote the Goryeong Jisan-dong Tumuli, a World Heritage site, to the public and create various opportunities for enjoyment. Please look forward to the future transformation of Goryeong-gun as a World Heritage city.”
