The "Korea Institute of Building Construction Fall Academic Conference" is a competition aimed at enhancing the academic research capabilities of engineering students, showcasing numerous works infused with creative ideas and academic competencies, demonstrating the true potential of young engineers who will lead the future.

Choi Chang-geun, a master's student guided by Professor Ryu Dong-woo of Daejin University's Department of Architectural Engineering, achieved the Best Academic Award in the building materials category for his research titled "Evaluation of Mechanical Properties According to Carbonation Curing Conditions of Calcium Silicate Cement Mortar."

The research conducted by Choi Chang-geun aimed to apply low-calcium silicate cement, which exhibits strength development through carbonation reactions using the mineral carbonation concept among CCU (Carbon Capture Utilization) strategies for realizing carbon neutrality in the cement industry, to wet secondary products of cement/concrete. The excellence of the research results was recognized through mechanical property evaluation and quantitative analysis.

Additionally, undergraduate student Lee Si-hyun, supervised by Professor Yoo Moo-young of the Department of Architectural Engineering at Daejin University, also won the Best Academic Award in the facility maintenance management category for the study titled "Generation Technique of Super High-Rise Forms to Reduce Building Wind."

The research conducted by Lee Si-hyun proposed a form design methodology to reduce building wind effects on super high-rise buildings, utilizing parametric design and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations to analyze various structural impacts, earning recognition for the excellence of the research results. The student's parametric design-based optimization design aimed to enhance the structural stability of super high-rise buildings and present significant potential for solving urban wind environment issues.
