Hanam-si Holds Meeting to Promote Communication with Multicultural Families and Foreign Organizations

Hanam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) announced on the 20th that it held a "2024 Meeting to Promote Communication with Multicultural Families and Foreign Organizations" on the 18th, attended by the Multicultural Family Advisory Committee and foreign organization leaders.

The meeting was attended by nine members, including Hwang Hak-yong, Deputy Mayor of Hanam City, as well as representatives from the Hanam Police Station, Hanam City Family Center, and Foreigners Support Center.


The meeting proceeded with presentations on the 2024 Hanam City multicultural family support project performance, major achievements, and best practices, followed by consultations and suggestions. Various opinions were shared among the members regarding multicultural families and foreign residents.


Deputy Mayor Hwang Hak-yong stated, “Through today’s meeting, we must support the stable settlement, early adaptation to Korean society, and socio-economic independence of multicultural families,” adding, “I hope this will be a time to discuss various opinions and measures so that multicultural families are not discriminated against or marginalized and can live together as members of our society.”


The city plans to continue promoting multicultural family support projects in 2025, focusing on raising awareness of multicultural families in the local community, supporting capacity development for employment of marriage immigrants, early adaptation to Korean society and stable living support, and strengthening healthy family relationships among multicultural families.
