Icheon City announced on the 20th that it held a completion ceremony on the 19th after finishing the 'Banwolseong Premium Street Project for Walking.'
The Banwolseong Premium Street Project for Walking was promoted as part of the balanced development project for the southern region of Icheon, which had been relatively neglected in development. The city allocated a budget of 1 billion KRW to carry out projects such as installing sculptures symbolizing Banwolseong, creating the Japanese snowbell tree path, establishing a small park, renovating store signs, and installing landscape lighting. The Icheon City Balanced Development Support Project is a program that supports a total budget of 2.5 billion KRW over five years starting from 2023 for four southern townships: Seolseong-myeon, Janghowon-eup, Moga-myeon, and Yul-myeon.
To this end, the city proceeded with the project after collecting opinions through a residents' briefing session in Jeyo 1-ri last March. In this process, the focus was on creating the Japanese snowbell tree path and small park so that not only residents but also tourists could visit, and renovating outdoor signs in the shopping street to help revitalize the local businesses in the area.
Meanwhile, the completion ceremony was attended by Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon, Park Myung-seo, Chairman of the Icheon City Council, Heo Won, member of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly, and local residents. Mayor Kim said, "I hope the Banwolseong Premium Street for Walking will become a new landmark of the city that attracts not only the residents of Seolseong-myeon but also many tourists."
