Gwangju Buk-gu, 'Alley-type Shopping District' Merchants' Association Meeting

Listening to Small Business Owners' Voices at the District Office on the 22nd

Gwangju Buk-gu, 'Alley-type Shopping District' Merchants' Association Meeting

On the 22nd, Gwangju-si Buk-gu announced on the 20th that it will hold a meeting with the 'Alley-type Shopping District' merchants' association in the conference room on the 3rd floor of the district office.

The Alley-type Shopping District is a small business revitalization measure that designates an area meeting the store concentration criteria within 2,000㎡ as a single shopping district and supports various projects. In the designated shopping districts, Onnuri gift certificates, which offer up to a 10% discount benefit similar to traditional markets, can be used.

The district has actively promoted the expansion of Alley-type Shopping District designations to encourage residents' consumption and revive the stagnant alley commercial areas. As a result, the number has increased from the existing 4 locations to 22, with 18 additional districts designated during the 8th term of the elected government.

At this meeting, attended by about 40 people including the presidents of the Alley-type Shopping District merchants' associations and related parties, Buk-gu and the Small Enterprise and Market Service will provide information on various support projects currently underway. There will also be a communication session to share information among merchants' associations and seek solutions to difficulties faced by the alley commercial areas.

The district plans to comprehensively review the opinions derived from the meeting and actively utilize them in discovering small business support policies and setting operational directions for the next year.

Moon In, the head of Buk-gu, emphasized, "The Alley-type Shopping District is a beneficial system where various daily consumer goods can be purchased at reasonable prices while also supporting small business owners, so it requires much interest from residents. We will do our best to further expand the Alley-type Shopping Districts to ensure no commercial area is left behind and to promote customized support projects for each shopping district to strengthen the competitiveness of alley commercial areas, which are the foundation of the local economy."

Meanwhile, Buk-gu plans to designate 8 more Alley-type Shopping Districts by next month, expanding the total to 30.
