Cheonan City in Chungnam Province announced on the 20th that it has been selected as an outstanding local government in the evaluation of the public response system for child abuse and received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award.
In July 2020, the city established a Child Protection Team for the first time in Chungnam, and this year newly launched the Crisis Child Response Team dedicated to child abuse, taking a proactive approach to protecting abused children.
In addition, the city was recognized for building a public response system for child abuse by conducting a survey on the actual conditions of child abuse, designating dedicated medical institutions for child abuse, and promoting role plays for child abuse prevention and children's rights.
Park Sangdon, Mayor of Cheonan, said, "This is the result of establishing a child abuse prevention plan that reflects the characteristics of our city and cooperating with relevant organizations," adding, "We will make Cheonan a city safe from child abuse through proactive prevention and promotional activities."
