Kim Si-won (formerly known as Dahee, 30), a former member of the group GLAM and an AfreecaTV BJ who demanded 5 billion KRW by threatening to distribute private videos of actor Lee Byung-hun, has become a YouTuber.
On the 17th, Kim Si-won uploaded a video titled "Why people ask the most about why we do this together" on her YouTube channel "Kim Si-won." The video description included the phrase, "A message from a woman who has endured the storms of the world and her friend who faces death daily to those contemplating a challenge."
In the video, she announced that she started YouTube with a friend of 20 years, saying, "Even when I want to do something, I tend to be secretly scared and procrastinate, but this friend helps me overcome that. My friends always believe in and support me no matter what I do." She added, "Especially this friend encourages me by saying, 'If you do it, I’m fine with it,' and 'You are a courageous friend.'" Kim Si-won's friend then said, "Si-won was somewhat discouraged by her past activities, and we talked a lot about that. Since she has something she wants to do, she wants to work hard and give positive energy to viewers. She will keep trying until the day she fulfills the dream in her heart."
Meanwhile, Kim Si-won debuted as Dahee, a member of the group GLAM, in 2012 and began her career as a singer. Later, in 2014, she and a model surnamed Lee threatened to distribute secretly recorded private videos from a drinking party with Lee Byung-hun and others, demanding 5 billion KRW. The video reportedly contained Lee Byung-hun’s lewd remarks. Lee Byung-hun filed a police complaint against the two, bringing the case to light. In February 2015, the appellate court ruled, "The victim stated in the appeal trial that she did not want the defendants to be punished, the crime was an attempt, and the defendants showed deep remorse during the six months of detention," sentencing Kim Si-won to one year in prison with a two-year probation.
After the incident, she changed her stage name to Kim Si-won and transitioned to being an AfreecaTV BJ. It was reported that she earned about 2.4 billion KRW last year, but earlier this year, she posted a handwritten letter titled "Thank you all" on her channel’s notice board, seemingly hinting at retirement.
