Naver Launches 3D Avatar Live Feature on Prism Live Studio

Naver announced on the 20th that it will newly introduce the 3D avatar live feature "VTuber" in its mobile live streaming app "Prism Live Studio."

Prism Live Studio is the first in the streaming field to apply the VRM (Virtual Reality Model) format, which is most widely used in avatar live streaming, to mobile. The company stated that it provides an environment where 3D avatar live streaming can be broadcast anytime and anywhere.

Launched in March 2019, Naver Prism Live Studio supports a multi-platform environment that allows live streaming and video editing on both PC and mobile.

Additionally, it records the highest number of downloads among mobile streaming apps. It is used in over 200 countries worldwide, with at least 50,000 daily users broadcasting 100,000 live streams through Naver Chijijik, Naver TV, cloud platforms, as well as global live platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch.

The VTuber feature has advanced the ability to broadcast 3D avatar live streams, which were previously only possible via PC, to mobile as well. VTuber applies the VRM format widely used in 3D avatar live streaming, allowing VRM files created through various software to be easily imported. It is characterized by enabling 3D avatar live streaming on mobile without any additional equipment.

It also features the integration of the login method from "VRoidHub," a global platform for sharing 3D avatar character images among users, allowing numerous 3D avatar character images to be used distinctively in live streams through Prism Live Studio's functions.

Moreover, VTuber offers various additional options to enable natural 3D avatar live streaming. Users can directly adjust the avatar's position and size within the live screen and set the sensitivity of the avatar's movements. They can also select lighting color and sensitivity, as well as backgrounds, to create an avatar appearance that suits the content.

To maximize communication with viewers, enhanced emotion features can be used together, and items such as desks and microphones, along with various background images, can be additionally selected.

Song Ji-cheol, leader of Naver Prism Studio development, said, "With the Prism Live Studio app enabling 3D live streaming without equipment constraints, we expect content to become more diverse," adding, "We will continue to develop technologies needed by creators to secure diversity in the content ecosystem."
