Optimus Robot Demonstration Video Draws Netizens' Attention
Tesla Shows Strong Intraday Performance... Market Cap Hits $1.108 Trillion
Famous American TV star Kim Kardashian attracted investors' attention by posting a video interacting with Tesla's humanoid robot 'Optimus' under development. Along with this, Tesla's stock price also seems to have gained momentum.
On the 18th (local time), Kardashian posted a short message saying "Meet my new friend" along with a video on her X account. The video shows Kardashian interacting with the Optimus robot.
Optimus responds to Kardashian's words with various gestures, and when Kardashian says "Hello," it waves its hand in greeting. The stiff or sluggish movements seen in previously released videos are hardly noticeable.
When Kardashian asked, "What shall we do now?" the robot quickly moved both arms and showed a dancing motion. In addition, Kardashian enjoyed simple games with Optimus, such as exchanging air kisses and playing rock-paper-scissors.
The robot also demonstrated flexibility in its finger joints. When Kardashian bent one of her hands to make a half-heart shape, Optimus made a similar hand gesture. Kardashian, surprised, asked, "How do you know this?"
The video sparked enthusiastic reactions on social media platforms including X. American entertainment media People reported, "Optimus has not yet been released to the market," adding, "It is unclear whether Kardashian purchased it herself or was given a chance to test it briefly."
Kardashian's video reportedly also helped Tesla's stock price that day. Financial media Barron's speculated, "Kardashian's video likely influenced the rise in Tesla's stock price." On that day, Tesla's stock closed at $346 (about 480,000 KRW), up 2.14% from the previous day, on the New York Stock Exchange. Its market capitalization reached $1.108 trillion (about 1,540 trillion KRW).
Meanwhile, Tesla CEO Elon Musk demonstrated dozens of Optimus robots at an event last year unveiling the autonomous taxi 'Cybercap.' He claimed, "Everyone will have their own personal robot," adding, "It will take some time, but it will be sold at around $20,000 to $30,000 (about 27.8 to 41.7 million KRW), cheaper than a car."
