One-Day and Overnight 1-Night 2-Day Courses Offering Diverse Seonbi Culture Experience Opportunities
Operating Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday from the 23rd to December 14th
A special experience where tradition meets modernity unfolds in Yeongju.
The Gyeongbuk ‘Yeongju Cultural Tourism Foundation’ announced on the 20th that it will operate the ‘Seonbi Duruwa’ program as part of the 2024 Korean Seonbi Culture Training Center Experience Support Project.
This program will take place from the 23rd of this month to December 14th at the Korean Seonbi Culture Training Center and nearby tourist sites such as Sosu Seowon. It will be held every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, with 25 participants accepted on a first-come, first-served basis per session.
The program is an experience designed by the Korean Seonbi Culture Training Center to reinterpret Seonbi culture in a modern way. It is especially aimed at the MZ generation, allowing them to experience tradition in a unique manner and naturally understand the spirit of the Seonbi.
‘Seonbi Duruwa’ is operated in two formats: a one-day experience and a one-night, two-day experience. The one-day experience begins with traditional Korean archery or meditation yoga, followed by on-site tours of Seonbi Village and Sosu Seowon. Additionally, a different craft experience (dyeing, hanji paper, knotting, folk painting) is prepared each week.
The one-night, two-day experience includes on-site tours and stargazing on the first day, and meditation yoga, stories about the Jongga family, and craft experiences on the following day.
The participation fee is 10,000 KRW for the one-day experience and 120,000 KRW per room for the one-night, two-day experience.
Applications are accepted from the 20th until December 13th. Interested participants can refer to the announcements on the Yeongju Cultural Tourism Foundation website’s notice board, fill out the application form, and submit it via email. For inquiries, contact the foundation’s marketing team.
A foundation official said, “We aimed to newly embody the value of our unique traditional culture and the spirit of the Seonbi,” and added, “We ask for much interest and participation in this program that reinterprets our culture in a modern way.”
