Seoul Jung-gu with Many Foreigners Publishes Living Guide Booklets in 4 Languages

Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) announced on the 20th that it has published a multilingual electronic guidebook titled ‘A Guidebook for Foreigner’ to support the stable settlement and convenient life of foreign residents.


As of the end of last year, a total of 10,481 foreigners reside in Jung-gu. This is the highest ratio of registered foreigners to population among the autonomous districts of Seoul, with the largest groups being Chinese, Vietnamese, Russian, Taiwanese, Uzbekistani, American, and Japanese, in that order.

In accordance with these regional characteristics, the district produced the electronic guidebook (e-Book) in four languages: English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Russian. The booklet is designed to help foreigners easily find necessary information for living in Jung-gu, including entry and stay information, daily life information, welfare information, education information, medical information, transportation information, economic information, and foreigner support facilities, among various other useful details for foreign residents.


It provides extensive and practical information needed in daily life, such as foreigner registration, change of residence, nationality acquisition methods, parking violations, household waste disposal methods, infant vaccinations, elementary/middle/high school enrollment, emergency support centers, driver’s license acquisition, banking services, and local tax payment methods.


The e-Book can be downloaded via QR codes posted on the Jung-gu Office website, the Civil Affairs and Passport Division of Jung-gu Office, local community service centers, and public health centers, allowing users to access information anytime and anywhere using their smartphones.


Mayor Kim Gil-seong stated, “I hope this foreigner’s life guidebook will serve as a good guide to help foreigners adapt more quickly to Jung-gu and naturally integrate into the local community.”
