Samsung Electro-Mechanics Receives Top Grade Certification for 'In-Vehicle Camera Software' Based on European Automaker Standards

Acquired A-SPICE Level 3 with Temperature Control Function
Only Level 2 or Higher Can Be Supplied to the European Market

On the 20th, Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced that it has obtained Level 3 certification for the European automotive software development standard 'Automotive SPICE (hereinafter A-SPICE)' with its automotive camera module software. Level 3 is the highest grade required by automobile manufacturers.

A-SPICE is a standard established by the European automotive industry to evaluate the software reliability and development capabilities of automotive parts suppliers. It is divided into six levels from Level 0 to 5. To enter the European automotive market, certification of at least Level 2 is required. Level 3 means that the software process is systematically and clearly managed at the organizational level.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics obtained A-SPICE Level 3 certification with software that supports temperature control functionality. This software helps maintain a constant temperature for automotive cameras even in extreme environments such as high heat, extreme cold, rain, and snow, supporting stable vehicle operation. Samsung Electro-Mechanics plans to supply automotive camera modules equipped with this software to global automakers.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics possesses all core technologies for automotive camera modules, including lens design, molding, and high-performance actuator manufacturing capabilities. It is also developing highly reliable products such as all-season, all-weather automotive camera modules equipped with water-repellent coating and lens heating functions, expanding its business with global automotive companies.

Lee Si-woo, Vice President and Head of the Innovation Center at Samsung Electro-Mechanics, said, "We have obtained certification required by global automakers through Samsung Electro-Mechanics' automotive camera software technology. Samsung Electro-Mechanics will strengthen its automotive camera product capabilities to contribute to the advancement of advanced driver assistance systems and infotainment systems, providing differentiated solutions to customers."
