Prevention of Illegal Activities Such as False or Inadequate Measurement of Environmental Pollutants by Measurement Agencies

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 20th that it will conduct supervisory inspections of six measurement agencies within Goyang City by the 29th to ensure the accuracy and reliability of environmental testing and measurement agencies.

This inspection is conducted to verify compliance with legal obligations under the "Act on Environmental Testing and Inspection" and to confirm the accuracy and appropriateness of data provided by measurement agencies.

The main inspection items include △ compliance with registration standards for measurement agencies △ appropriateness of technical personnel and equipment operation △ preparation and preservation of various documents such as test records △ falsification of measurement records, etc.

The city plans to issue improvement orders and request corrective actions within a certain period for agencies that are judged non-compliant based on the inspection results. If not improved, strong follow-up measures including suspension of operations will be taken.

A Goyang Special City official stated, “We aim to create a safer and healthier environment by ensuring the accuracy and reliability of environmental measurements,” adding, “We will promptly address issues found during this inspection to enhance the transparency and reliability of environmental testing and inspection.”
