First Demonstration at Korea Radio Industry Exhibition (KRS) on the 20th
Autonomous Vertical Multi-Joint Robot, Digital Twin Technology, and More
LG Electronics is accelerating its business by publicly demonstrating its 'Eum5G' technology, a 5th generation mobile communication (5G) specialized network technology, for the first time. This showcases promising technology related to a business expected to grow to approximately $11.8 billion (about 16 trillion KRW) in market size in four years.

On the 20th, LG Electronics announced that it will build an Eum5G network at the Korea Communications Agency (KCA) exhibition booth during the 'Korea Radio Industry Exhibition (KRS)' held for three days starting that day at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Eum5G is a customized 5G network provided for specific spaces such as smart factories and smart logistics. It uses dedicated frequencies rather than commercial networks, enabling fast data transmission speeds with excellent stability and security.
At this exhibition, LG Electronics will showcase an autonomous vertical multi-joint robot connected to the Eum5G network performing tasks. This robot is equipped with a vertical multi-joint robotic arm attached to an autonomous mobile robot. It is a smart factory solution that autonomously moves along production lines to transport parts, assemble products, and conduct inspections. Since it needs to recognize the surrounding environment through various sensors and continuously communicate with peripheral devices to perform tasks, a fast and stable network like Eum5G is essential.
LG Electronics will also present a digital twin applying Eum5G technology. This demonstrates a system that creates a three-dimensional virtual world similar to reality and integrates control by connecting the real and virtual worlds based on data. The exhibition includes digital twin construction, 3D monitoring, and remote collaboration experiences. Visitors can experience receiving CCTV data connected via the Eum5G network in the virtual space built by the digital twin or collaborate and communicate remotely.
Additionally, LG Electronics will showcase the operation of PLCs, which act as the brains of smart factory automation equipment, and autonomous service robots connected to the Eum5G network.
LG Electronics stated that it has accumulated know-how through pilot operations in various spaces such as smart factories, university hospitals, and logistics centers, backed by world-class technology including over 30,000 communication patents. Recently, it became the first to obtain the 'Domestic Network Equipment Certification,' awarded by the Korea Network Industry Association after reviewing domestic development and production, for its Eum5G network solution, thereby officially recognizing its core technological capabilities.
LG Electronics also said that public institutions recognize its Eum5G network solution technology competitiveness and contribution to localization. On the 11th, at the ICT Device Industry Festival hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, Lee Joon-sung, Executive Director of LG Electronics’ Private Network Business Development Office, received the Minister of Science and ICT Award in the next-generation network research and development category. Earlier in August, LG Electronics signed a business agreement with Korail to pilot the deployment of the Eum5G network solution at domestic railway facilities such as Seoul Station and Siheung Vehicle Base.
The related market growth potential is high. According to market research firm MarketsandMarkets, the global 5G specialized network market size is expected to grow from about $2 billion (approximately 2.8 trillion KRW) last year to about $11.8 billion (approximately 16 trillion KRW) by 2028, with an average annual growth rate of about 42%.
Executive Director Lee Joon-sung said, "Based on the technology and business capabilities accumulated in various spaces, LG Electronics will continue to expand its Eum5G network solution business."
