IPA Opens Export Route for Korean Paprika to China via Incheon Port

Incheon Port Authority (IPA) announced on the 20th that Korean paprika will be exported through the Incheon Port ferry.

The existing transportation network, which transported paprika produced in Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do to the Shanghai area in China, typically took more than 4 days due to customs clearance delays at Shanghai Port, making it difficult to maintain freshness.

IPA proposed a transportation plan using the Incheon Port ferry, which guarantees fast customs clearance and punctuality, to the agricultural corporation Kopa, and conducted a pilot operation in July. As a result, transportation from Incheon Port to Shanghai via Qingdao within 3 days was highly evaluated, and Incheon Port was finalized as the export port.

Companies striving to diversify export markets to Southeast Asia and China and expand exports of domestic mini paprika varieties have secured a stable supply chain for fresh agricultural products that require freshness through transportation within 3 days.

IPA expects that export cargo volume through Incheon Port will also increase along with the stable supply chain construction for these exporting companies. In this regard, IPA held a ceremony on the 18th at its headquarters to commemorate the attraction of paprika export cargo volume through Incheon Port and discussed future plans to expand exports of Korean fresh agricultural products with the agricultural corporation Kopa.

Based on this case, IPA plans to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) on the 26th to work on expanding exports of Korean fresh agricultural products through logistics and incentive support.

Kim Sang-gi, Vice President of IPA’s Operations Division, said, "We will actively resolve difficulties faced by companies during the export process and strive to expand exports through Incheon Port with various logistics supports."
