A man in his 20s who was driving a sports utility vehicle (SUV) under the influence of drugs and collided with five vehicles has been arrested by the police, it was confirmed belatedly.

The Michuhol Police Station in Incheon announced on the 19th that they had arrested and detained a man in his 20s, identified as A, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act and causing injury by dangerous driving under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.

A is accused of driving under the influence of drugs and crashing into five vehicles that were stopped at a traffic signal on a road in Yonghyeon-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon, at around 8:20 p.m. on the 14th.

As a result of the accident, three people in the vehicles were injured and transported to a hospital for treatment.

Investigations revealed that A had taken ketamine before driving. During the police investigation, A reportedly stated that he does not remember why he was driving.

The police are reviewing nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and other evidence, suspecting that A received drugs from another person, to investigate the detailed circumstances of the accident.

A police official said, "A has admitted to the drug use charges," and added, "He will be sent to the prosecution soon."
