Sacheon-si Launches Campaign to Commemorate Child Abuse Prevention Day

A Public-Private Joint Street Campaign Held at Samcheonpo General Market

Sacheon City in Gyeongnam conducted various campaigns on the 19th to mark Child Abuse Prevention Day and Child Abuse Prevention Week.

On this day, Mayor Park Dongsik and city employees held a campaign to eradicate child abuse titled "Energetic Commute!! Along with Child Abuse Prevention" in the first-floor lobby of the city hall.

This campaign was organized to improve awareness and interest among mandatory reporters of child abuse and to pledge to create a safe and healthy Sacheon for children.

In the afternoon, a joint public-private street campaign was held at Samcheonpo General Market to promote messages such as "Positive Parenting Without Corporal Punishment" and "Report Child Abuse to 112" to citizens.

The street campaign involved over 70 participants from eight related organizations and groups, including Sacheon City, Sacheon Police Station, Sacheon Office of Education, Gyeongnam Western Child Protection Agency, and Sacheon City Child Committee Council.

Especially during Child Abuse Prevention Week (19th?25th), events such as visiting parent invitation lectures, promotions at multi-use facilities, and children's art exhibitions will be held to raise awareness about the importance of preventing child abuse and respecting children's rights.

A city official stated, "Warm interest and active reporting from citizens are essential for the safety and healthy growth of children," adding, "We will create an environment where children can grow up safely and healthily."

Meanwhile, the city plans to accelerate efforts next year for the prompt protection of abused children and professional child protection services, including the establishment of a shelter for abused children and the relocation and reconstruction of the Gyeongnam Western Child Protection Agency.
