Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do's Best in Agricultural Administration... 8 Consecutive Years of Awards Achievement

Three Awards in Three Categories for Farmers and Fishermen
Demonstrating the Strength of Gapyeong Agriculture

Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 19th that it was selected as the Best Institution in the "2024 City/County Agricultural Administration Evaluation and Special Policy" category at the ceremony for the "29th Gyeonggi Province Farmers' Day" held at Suwon Convention Center on the 18th. Along with this, it also had the honor of winning awards in three categories (forestry, poultry and other livestock, and women farmers) at the "Gyeonggi Province Farmers and Fishermen Awards."

Gapyeong-gun was selected as the best institution among urban-rural type cities/counties in the Gyeonggi Province Agricultural Administration Evaluation and received a prize of 15 million KRW. In the special policy category, the "Operation of Animal Medical Support Team" was evaluated as the best and received an additional prize of 2.5 million KRW. Notably, Gapyeong-gun has been selected as the best or excellent institution for eight consecutive years since 2017 in the city/county agricultural administration evaluation.


Additionally, the Gyeonggi Province Farmers and Fishermen Awards is a prestigious award given to farmers and fishermen who have contributed to the development of agriculture, fisheries, and the local community. Gapyeong-gun demonstrated the outstanding potential of local agriculture by winning awards in three out of a total of 15 categories.


Song Don-gyu, chairman of the Durup Crop Group and winner in the forestry category, contributed to the development of local forestry by cultivating various forest products such as durup (Aralia elata), shiitake mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, and wild ginseng in an eco-friendly manner, and by promoting and disseminating forestry technology.


Kwon Young-don, chairman of the Seorak Poultry Association and winner in the poultry and other livestock category, operated a state-of-the-art smart farm, focusing on producing safe livestock products by obtaining antibiotic-free livestock product certification and clean livestock farm certification.


Park Sang-min, president of the Korean Women Farmers Association Gapyeong-gun branch and winner in the women farmers category, cultivated Gapyeong’s specialized crops such as Campbell grapes and Shine Muscat grapes, striving to enhance the rights and quality of life of women farmers.


County Governor Seo Tae-won emphasized, “Winning three categories at the Gyeonggi Province Farmers and Fishermen Awards and achieving the best results in the agricultural administration evaluation for eight consecutive years is a collective achievement made possible through cooperation between the county and all farmers,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to develop agriculture and livestock farming as the center of Gyeonggi Province agriculture.”
