Meeting Series with Societies of Science, Health, Engineering, and Agriculture & Fisheries
"Please Actively Provide Opinions on Leading R&D"
Minister Yoo Sang-im of the Ministry of Science and ICT has embarked on a two-week relay meeting series with over 80 major scientific societies. Minister Yoo plans to listen to voices from the field of science and technology and reflect them in policy.
On the 19th at 2 p.m., Minister Yoo held the first meeting with societies affiliated with the Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies at the Korea Science and Technology Center in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul. Minister Yoo will conduct a total of six relay communication meetings with the field, including natural sciences, health, engineering (twice), agriculture and fisheries, and general fields, until next week.
The relay meetings are conducted in a format where participating societies convey their expectations and suggestions from the research and development field, and freely ask questions and discuss with Minister Yoo for 100 minutes.
Minister Yoo stated, “For the pioneering research and development, which will be fully promoted from next year, to take root properly, it is important to increase the success potential of innovative research through thorough planning by experts and to encourage creative and challenging research through in-depth evaluation,” urging active interest and cooperation from the societies.
Suggestions proposed during the relay communication meetings with scientific societies will be thoroughly reviewed by the Ministry of Science and ICT and actively reflected in science and technology policies and research and development projects, and the system in which societies actively participate in R&D planning, evaluation, and processes will be further developed.
