National Assembly Steering Committee Approves Appointment Proposal for Legislation Research Office Chief Lee Gwan-hoon

The National Assembly Steering Committee on the 19th approved the appointment consent bill for candidate Lee Gwan-hoo for the head of the Legislative Research Office.


The Steering Committee held a plenary session that day and proceeded to vote on the appointment consent for candidate Lee by secret ballot in accordance with the National Assembly Act. The voting result was 20 votes in favor and 1 against out of a total of 21 votes, passing the bill.

After the appointment consent bill was passed, the nominee Lee stated in his acceptance speech, "As a political scientist who has studied representative democracy and has field experience working in the legislative, executive, and local governments, I will faithfully fulfill my role as the head of the National Assembly Legislative Research Office." He added, "I have actively supported the members' legislative activities under the principles of expertise and neutrality, and these efforts will continue unchanged."


He continued, "Through creative and innovative leadership, I will do my best together with the staff to become a competent research office that can proactively respond to the rapidly changing domestic and international legislative policy environment."


Candidate Lee completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in Political Science and Diplomacy at Sogang University and earned his doctorate from the University of London in the United Kingdom. He served as a full-time researcher at the Glocal Korean Political Thought Research Institute at Sogang University and is currently an assistant professor at the Sangheo College of Liberal Arts at Konkuk University. He has also served as a research fellow at the Gyeongnam Research Institute and as a communication message secretary at the Prime Minister's Secretariat.
