The Seoul Metropolitan Chapter of the Korean Red Cross (President Kwon Young-gyu) announced on the 19th that it will carry out kimchi-making volunteer activities throughout Seoul during the month of November.
The previous day, at the Northern Volunteer Center in Seoul, about 60 employees and executives of the Red Cross, along with comedian Oh Jeong-tae, the publicity ambassador of the Seoul Red Cross Chapter, participated in making and packaging 2,500 kg of kimchi to be distributed to 250 households in need.
According to the Seoul Red Cross Chapter, approximately 280 million KRW was raised through donations from corporations, individuals, and various sectors of society for the '2024 Love Kimchi Sharing' campaign, which will provide kimchi for the winter season to 6,372 households in welfare blind spots across Seoul.

A total of about 800 Red Cross volunteers plan to collaborate with 21 autonomous districts in Seoul and social cooperation organizations to make and package over 60 tons of kimchi and deliver it directly to each household.
Kim Sook-ja, Chairperson of the Seoul Council of the Red Cross Volunteer Association, said, “Looking back on over 20 years of kimchi volunteer work, the faces of the struggling neighbors who warmly welcome us are the greatest happiness,” and added, “We ask for generous support so that our volunteers can work even harder.”
