Korea Federation of SMEs Holds 'Regulatory Reform Meeting with Choi Seung-jae, SME Ombudsman'

The Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business (Kbiz) announced on the morning of the 19th that it held the "Regulatory Reform Meeting with Choi Seung-jae, Small and Medium Business Ombudsman" at the Kbiz headquarters in Yeouido.


At the Small and Medium Business Ombudsman side, ▲Choi Seung-jae, Small and Medium Business Ombudsman, and ▲Lee Han-hyung, Head of the Ombudsman Support Group at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, were present. From the SME sector, ▲Kim Ki-moon, President of Kbiz, ▲Song Yoo-kyung, President of the Korea Supermarket Cooperative Federation, ▲Jung Chan-wook, President of the Korea Aluminum Industry Cooperative Federation, ▲Choi Yoon-chul, President of the Korea Rent-a-Car Business Cooperative Federation, and ▲Park Ji-yeon, Chairperson of the Seoul Travel Industry Cooperative, among 14 attendees, participated.

At the meeting, Kim Ki-moon, President of Kbiz, said, "We look forward to the future activities as a small business expert who has served as a director of Kbiz, president of the Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise, and a member of the 21st National Assembly has taken on the role of Small and Medium Business Ombudsman," and requested active review of the "Top 100 On-site Regulations Selected by SMEs for 2024" submitted by Kbiz to the government last September.


Choi Seung-jae, Small and Medium Business Ombudsman, stated, "We are working with government ministries to develop improvement plans regarding the 'Top 100 On-site Regulations' proposed by Kbiz," and added, "Both organizations will cooperate to improve regulatory difficulties so that SMEs can feel the effects and receive practical help."


He then presented the current status of improvements on tasks such as ▲establishing employment grounds for foreign international students under the employment permit system ▲relaxing regulations on the installation and operation of contract departments in corporate-affiliated research institutes of industrial companies ▲easing support conditions for joint projects to activate cooperation among micro-enterprises. Current issues discussed included ▲comprehensive reform of the fee system for SME and micro-enterprise limit loans ▲expansion of the scope of gas and electricity bill payments by card.
