Creating an Eco-Friendly Rainwater Garden... Recycling Waste Materials
Porsche Korea, in collaboration with Dongdaemun-gu Office in Seoul, has created an eco-friendly ecological park in the local area.
On the 19th, Porsche Korea announced that it had established the 'Believe in Dream Park' at Jangpyeong Neighborhood Park in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, together with Dongdaemun-gu Office and Seoul Green Trust.
'Believe in Dream Park' is a program expanded from the urban beekeeping project that began in 2021. This year, the focus was on renovating the aging park to help preserve biodiversity.
First, the deteriorated wall fountain facility was repaired, and various new trees were planted to create a space in harmony with nature. The drainage system of the plaza was improved, and a rainwater garden utilizing stormwater was established.
More than 20 species of new trees suitable for the vegetation and soil environment were planted in the rainwater garden. Additionally, old facilities were improved, and waste materials generated during the repair process were recycled. The resulting 'Believe in Dream Rainwater Garden' is expected to address ecological issues in Dongdaemun-gu, where the ratio of parks and green spaces is low, and serve as a resting space for citizens.
Matthias Busse, CEO of Porsche Korea, said, "'Porsche Believe in Dream Park' has transformed the aging park into a sustainable ecosystem where various flora and fauna can coexist by adding eco-friendly elements." He added, "Through this project, we hope that Jangpyeong Neighborhood Park will expand as a space where people can relax in beautiful nature and where active discussions on biodiversity take place."
