Secured 2,078 Snow Removal Vehicles and 3,751 Snow Removal Equipment (Spreaders, etc.)
Prepared a Total of 117,700 Tons of Deicing Agents, Including 58,700 Tons of Eco-Friendly Deicing Agents
Selected and Managed Road Routes for Snow Removal, Focusing on Ice Formation and Vulnerable Sections
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 19th that it has designated the four-month period from December 15th this year to March 15th next year as the "2024-2025 Winter Road Snow Removal Measures Period" and will operate a prompt and systematic road snow removal system.

This measure aims to minimize inconvenience to residents by preventing safety accidents and ensuring smooth traffic flow through a thorough pre-preparation system that enables rapid initial response to sudden heavy snowfall.
Accordingly, the province plans to operate a 24-hour situation management system and conduct phased snow removal activities in cooperation with related organizations such as city and county offices, considering factors such as snowfall amount, weather conditions, and time of day.
The province has established snow removal measures for 19,306 km (35,616 routes) of roads managed by the province and city/county offices, including local roads. For snow removal, the province currently has 2,078 snow removal vehicles and 3,751 snow removal equipment (such as spreaders), and has installed 637 brine spraying facilities, 53 road heating cables, 129 snow removal forward bases, and 10,920 snow removal boxes throughout the roads in the province. A total of 117,700 tons of snow removal agents have been prepared. In particular, 58,700 tons, which is half of the total snow removal agents, are eco-friendly snow removal agents that cause minimal damage to metal corrosion or the environment.
Additionally, as part of efficient winter road snow removal measures, following last year's installation of automatic brine spraying devices and heating cables at 10 locations in 6 cities/counties, this year, these automatic snow removal systems, including the "Snow Heating System" to prevent freezing damage, will be additionally installed and operated at 19 locations in 10 cities/counties.
For efficient snow removal response, priority will be given based on road function and traffic volume, designating roads such as △ roads connecting to Seoul (49 routes in 11 cities) △ key management roads (395 locations in 31 cities/counties) △ highway entrances (87 locations on 15 routes) △ habitual freezing sections (108 locations in 16 cities/counties), and equipment, personnel, and materials will be concentrated and managed accordingly.
Kang Seong-seup, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Construction Bureau, said, “We will establish prevention-centered snow removal measures and conduct thorough pre-preparation such as snow simulation drills to respond quickly to sudden heavy snowfall or blizzards, and after snowfall, we will operate snow removal measures that minimize inconvenience to residents through pothole inspections and other follow-up actions.”
