On the 18th, the Pyeongtaek Police Station in Gyeonggi announced that Sergeant A, a 30-year-old U.S. military member, was criminally charged with injury.
Sergeant A is accused of punching the face of teenager B near Pyeongtaek Station in Pyeongtaek City around 12:30 a.m. the previous day, causing injury. It was reported that B suffered serious injuries, including a fractured jawbone, due to the assault by Sergeant A.
Sergeant A claims that he was also assaulted by B, and the police have initially charged B with assault as well. It is reported that B is currently unable to provide a statement due to jaw injuries.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident by interviewing witnesses and others.
