Pocheon City Council Holds Meeting with Facility Vegetable Association and Research Group

The Pocheon City Council of Gyeonggi Province (Chairman Im Jong-hoon) held a meeting on the 18th in the council's 2nd-floor conference room to discuss major pending issues with the Pocheon City Facility Vegetable Cooperative and Research Association (President Jang Seong-san).

At the meeting, a total of about 15 people, including Chairman Im Jong-hoon, Councilor Son Se-hwa, heads of executive departments, and President Jang Seong-san of the cooperative, discussed solutions to the shortage of accommodations for foreign seasonal workers.

Members of the cooperative expressed their gratitude to the executive department officials for their efforts to resolve pending issues such as the construction project for foreign workers' accommodations, but also pointed out that "given the agricultural realities of Pocheon, the effectiveness is limited," and proposed practical measures such as relaxing standards for securing accommodations for foreign workers on a per-farm basis.

An executive department official responded, "We will prepare improvement measures including reviewing relevant laws and actively cooperate with farmers for the development of local agriculture."

Chairman Im Jong-hoon said, "Your passion and hard work are the driving force that brightens the future of Pocheon agriculture," and added, "I hope we can continue meaningful discussions together and unite our efforts for the development of local agriculture." He also stated, "The council will actively promote what it can do for the development of local agriculture, including budget support and establishing institutional frameworks."

President Jang Seong-san requested close communication, saying, "I hope this meeting will become a place for continuous communication rather than a one-time event, and that we will cooperate together for the development of local agriculture."
