Gyeonggi-do City and County Basic Council Chairpersons Hold Regular Meeting in Dongducheon

Chairpersons of the city and county councils from 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province gathered in Dongducheon. The Dongducheon City Council (Chairperson Kim Seung-ho) announced that it held the 174th regular meeting of the Gyeonggi Province City and County Council Chairpersons Association on the 18th at Dongducheon Natural Recreation Forest Eoullim.

The Gyeonggi Province City and County Council Chairpersons Association (Chairperson Lee Deok-su) is an organization established to contribute to local autonomy and national development through the exchange of information and materials necessary for the operation of city and county councils in 31 cities and counties within Gyeonggi Province. This 174th regular meeting, scheduled to be held in the northern region, was hosted by the Dongducheon City Council.

In his welcoming remarks, Dongducheon City Council Chairperson Kim Seung-ho said, “Welcome to Dongducheon, Korea’s representative forest tourism and recreation city. The word ‘basic’ in ‘basic council’ means ‘the foundation, base, support, groundwork, or root of something.’ Each of our city and county councils holds the precious value and heavy responsibility of being the foundation for the development of democracy and local autonomy.” He emphasized the harmony, communication, and cooperation among the 31 city and county councils of Gyeonggi Province. Park Hyung-deok, Mayor of Dongducheon, also attended the meeting to greet the guests.

During the meeting, the 2024 second supplementary budget proposal for the association and the 2025 income and expenditure budget plan for the association were reviewed, and a resolution urging the reduction of toll fees on the Pocheon?Sejong Expressway (Pocheon?Guri private investment section) was adopted.
