Gwangju Transportation Corporation attached bird collision prevention tape to the exterior glass wall of Pyeongdong Station in Gwangsan-gu to protect the local ecosystem.

Pyeongdong Station is adjacent to Hwangryonggang Jangnok Wetland, a migratory route for wild birds, and there have been frequent cases of birds colliding with the transparent glass exterior and getting injured.

Accordingly, the corporation participated in Gwangju City's "Bird Collision Reduction Support Project" and attached collision prevention tape to 700㎡ of the upper glass windows on the exterior wall of Pyeongdong Station. This tape is a special film designed to help birds recognize the transparent glass not as empty air but as an obstacle, thereby aiding the safe movement of wild birds.

The corporation is making efforts to promote ESG management where nature and humans coexist by continuously monitoring and preventing damage to wild birds.

Meanwhile, the corporation regularly conducts environmental cleanup activities at Mudeungsan and Gwangju Stream, and leads various ecosystem protection campaigns such as not littering in roadside rainwater drains and not picking acorns in the autumn mountains, taking the lead in realizing a green Gwangju.

Jo Ik-moon, president of Gwangju Transportation Corporation, said on the 18th, "I believe this measure will serve as a practical safeguard to protect the lives of wild birds and maintain a pleasant station environment," and added, "We will continue to do our best to realize a green Gwangju that coexists with nature."
