Connecting Passage Linking Osiria Tourist Complex Pedestrian Overpass and Donghae Line Osiria Station
Access to Key Facilities via Pedestrian Overpass from Platform, Enhancing Visitor Convenience
Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) has completed the installation of automated fare collection equipment (such as automatic ticket gates) and auxiliary facilities at the ticket gate for direct access from the pedestrian overpass within the Osiria Tourism Complex to the Donghae Line Osiria Station. After safety inspections and trial operations, it will open on the 19th.
The pedestrian overpass, built as a traffic flow measure for the Osiria Tourism Complex, has continuously pursued direct connection with the Donghae Line Osiria Station to enhance visitor convenience and promote public transportation use. However, due to delays in negotiations caused by maintenance issues from the railway facility management agency, only the road crossing section was initially opened, drawing criticism as a "half-opened" facility.
To expedite the opening of the connection between the pedestrian overpass and the station building, the metropolitan corporation actively engaged in consultations with related agencies. In October last year, it signed a consignment agreement with the Korea Rail Network Authority, which carried out the installation of automated fare collection equipment. Subsequently, construction of auxiliary facilities such as rain shelters was completed in October.
With the full opening between Donghae Line Osiria Station and the pedestrian overpass, visitors using Osiria Station will be able to cross the nine-lane Dongbusan Tourist Road from the second-floor platform without needing to descend to the first floor, allowing direct access to major facilities such as the theme park and the National Busan Science Museum. This is expected to greatly improve pedestrian safety and convenience for visitors.
Park Su-saeng, Acting President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, stated, "We expect that the full opening between Donghae Line Osiria Station and the pedestrian overpass will enable visitors to use the tourism complex facilities more conveniently and safely."
