Enjoy History and Nature at Gyodong and Songhyeon-dong Burial Mounds
Changnyeong-eup in Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam, successfully concluded the '2024 Changnyeong-eup Family Love Health Walking Competition' held at the Gyo-dong and Songhyeon-dong ancient tomb sites, with about 900 residents participating.
The event, held on the 16th and organized by the Changnyeong-eup Sports Association, featured a 2.8 km course starting from Myeongdeok Elementary School, passing by Myeongdeok Reservoir, the Gyo-dong and Songhyeon-dong ancient tomb sites, and Changnyeong Museum before returning. Participants enjoyed the pleasure of walking while appreciating the long history of Gaya and the beautiful nature of Changnyeong.
At the venue, food booths including rice cake soup prepared by the Changnyeong-eup Sports Association were operated, and a promotional campaign for population increase policies along with distribution of promotional materials was conducted to maintain Changnyeong-gun’s population of 56,000.
Additionally, Yang Chang-in, president of the Namwon-eup Sports Association in Seogwipo City, Jeju, which is twinned with Changnyeong-eup Sports Association, donated 2 million won as a hometown love donation, and the event was enriched with tangerine tasting and sales.
County Governor Seong Nak-in stated, “I hope this was a time to create precious memories with family and friends against the backdrop of the UNESCO World Heritage Gyo-dong and Songhyeon-dong ancient tomb sites,” and added, “We will continue to support festivals that combine local cultural heritage and health.”
