Nonsan City in South Chungcheong Province announced on the 18th that it will conduct a 'one-stop customized health checkup' for foreign seasonal workers. The number of participants is 729.
This health checkup will be carried out in cooperation with agricultural cooperatives and farms that employ foreign seasonal workers.
The foreign workers will receive a health checkup covering a total of 19 items (12 blood tests, 2 urine tests, and 5 special tests).
Groups can receive the checkup quickly without waiting time through an advance reservation system, and the city will also provide checkups on weekends for the convenience of farms and workers.
Additionally, through interpreters, education on infectious disease prevention will be provided and tick repellent will be distributed to prevent tick-borne infectious diseases.
An official from the public health center said, "Through this project, we will strengthen infectious disease prevention education and health checkups for foreign workers, and do our best to provide a healthy working environment so that we can become a leading agricultural city."
Meanwhile, the city is working to solve the labor shortage during the busy farming season by dispatching foreign seasonal workers to farms in cooperation with overseas sister cities such as Mongolia, Nalaikh District, and Vientiane in Laos.
It is also expected that by providing inclusive medical benefits to foreign workers through health checkups, the city will contribute to enhancing its brand value.
