Noru Paint Holds Cabbage Sharing Event for Underprivileged Neighbors

Noroo Paint announced on the 18th that it held an event to share 1,500 heads of cabbage with local residents at its headquarters in Bakdal-dong, Anyang City on the 14th.

This sharing event was prepared with the collective will of Noroo Paint employees to help local neighbors who gave up making kimchi due to the burden of rising cabbage prices. Although cabbage prices, which soared due to the record-breaking heatwave this summer, have stabilized with the kimchi-making season approaching, the burden of cabbage prices remains due to reduced production, so this sharing was planned separately from kimchi support.

The event was attended by about 30 residents belonging to the Residents’ Autonomous Committees of Bakdal 1-dong, Bakdal 2-dong, and Chunghun-dong, including Hong Soon-cheol, chairman of the Noroo Paint labor union. Some of the cabbage used for sharing will be delivered to local residents through the Residents’ Autonomous Committees and will also be used for kimchi support for underprivileged neighbors during the upcoming year-end season.

The cabbage used in this sharing was harvested from premium-grade cabbages grown from seeds directly developed by The Giban, Noroo Group’s seed-specialized agribiotech affiliate. Established in 2015 as a seed-specialized agribiotech company, The Giban researches, develops, and sells vegetable seeds such as cabbage, tomato, chili pepper, oriental melon, and melon in Korea based on agricultural expertise. For overseas export varieties, it exports seeds of tomato, chili pepper, cucumber, melon, and cabbage tailored to local markets in India, North America, North Africa, and Europe.

Rooted in Anyang since 1974, Noroo Paint is a representative local company that has been conducting annual kimchi support volunteer activities since 2017 for low-income elderly residents of Anyang City who face economic and emotional difficulties. It has also practiced a spirit of sharing in coexistence with the community by providing rice donations since the COVID-19 period.

A Noroo Paint official said, “We planned this sharing event after hearing that more families are giving up making kimchi due to soaring cabbage prices,” adding, “We will continue to strive to expand the culture of coexistence of companies to the local community.”
